13. PROJECT OBJECTIVE: (Describe the major purpose of the project.) |
The main objective of the Project are as follows:
- To improve the accessibility of local resident
- To decrease the travel time and operation cost between Koh Kong Province and adjacent Provinces
- To increase the traffic safety by constructing traffic infrastructure in the Southwest region of CAMBODIA and to facilitate the regional trade
- In long term, the Project would contribute to promoting the rational balanced development by reducing the poverty and increase the employment in Koh Kong Province and the International Economic Corridor by constructing the trade channel among Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand and Laos. |
14. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: (Provide a description of the project and all its components.) |
The Scope of Project will consist of (i) Upgrading of National Road No.48 (150Km) with Asphalt Cement Concrete and Reinforced Cement Concrete in the intersection areas, (ii) Expansion of Existing Concrete Bridges, (iii) improve of Drainage system. |
15. PROJECT JUSTIFICATION: (Give reasons why this particular project is considered worthwhile.) |
- To improve the accessibility of local resident
- To decrease the travel time and operation cost between Koh Kong Province and adjacent Provinces
- To increase the traffic safety by constructing traffic infrastructure in the Southwest region of CAMBODIA and to facilitate the regional trade
- In long term, the Project would contribute to promoting the rational balanced development by reducing the poverty and increase the employment in Koh Kong Province and the International Economic Corridor by constructing the trade channel among Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand and Laos.
- The national road 48 is a section of ASEAN Highway No. 123 which starts from Vietnam and ends in Thailand. This project road has important functions as ensuring the traffic safety of residents in Koh Kong province, improving the accessibility to social infrastructures, boosting potential tourism and developing the trading network between Cambodia and Thailand
- Therefore, this project will promote the regional economic development, decrease the logistic cost, and contribute to a national transportation network. |

There are some problems caused the delaying of the Project:
- The Korea Eximbank changed the Management Structure
- The Internal Political issues in Korea
