According to UNESCO statistics, the cultural sector creates about 48 million jobs, accounting for 6.2% of all jobs in all over the world, almost half of them are women. As a percentage of GDP, it is 3.1%. At the same time, the cultural sector is also one of the areas that provide the most job opportunities for young people who have under 30 years old. In addition, the "International Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development" (UNESCO World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development) called "Mondiacult" of UNESCO 2022 in Mexico points to consideration of cultural arts as a separate part of setting the UN Sustainable Development Goals after 2030. The goal of sustainable development in the past has been to focus on environmental sustainability, economic sustainability and social sustainability. Culture is not the outstanding one, it is just a small part of the SDG. Currently, Cambodia is also considering
develop its cultural policy in accordance with the actual situation in the country and also respond to the United Nations policy, based on the preservation and development of national cultural arts. The
defining this policy is a clear consideration of the economic potential of the culture that contributes to the development of the nation by promoting the social welfare and livelihood of the general population. So if there is a cultural center in Cambodia many Cambodians will benefit enormously. |
