The project activities provide significant assistances to the local people and handle a big deal with poverty reduction, sanitation improvement, environmental protection, and capacity building for Cambodian people. I also build close relationship and harmonization among communities and donor country through exchange visits, partnership dialogues, cultural exchange, technical providing and experiences sharing. |

Objective 1: Every household and community become Health Home, Healthy Village and Healthy School in target communities.
Objective 2: People live with dignity and better living condition.
Objective 3: Transforming community landscape into healthy and clean environment with the effective technique and concept provision.
Objective 4: Along the River, environmental situation is responsibly ensured and protected by common will of authorities and local people. |
14. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: (Provide a description of the project and all its components.) |
This project is designed to establish heathy villages along the Mekong River through achieving demonstrable health impacts, better livelihood and environmental protection. The programs are community-focused placing rural families at the center of a change process (every house with latrine and clean water consumption, well sanitation practice, and good environment surrounding their houses) that results in long-term improvements to water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) related health. The project focuses on constructing more latrine for poor people, Hand Washing Station in school, Water filter distribution, Sanitation dissemination and Environmental prevention. |
15. PROJECT JUSTIFICATION: (Give reasons why this particular project is considered worthwhile.) |
Currently, rural people living along the Mekong River are most still living under poverty line, getting the lowest income with less than 1$ per day due to get less understanding, lacking of skills, and less supporting activities. Those people are regarded as the most vulnerable in rural communities. They are challenging with health condition, unhygienic foods and dirty water consuming, unsafety behavior such an open defecation, waste matters and waste burning issues. The real causes of such inconvenient activities are dengue, diarrhea, malaria and some transmitted viruses and bacteria. This situation is going heavily impacts to their lives, living condition, child education and dramatically polluting activities to the environment in the areas. In addition, the global climate change in the present day has caused more bad impacts to the poor and vulnerable people, living in rural communities especially people living along the Mekong River and low flooding areas. |
16. BENEFITS (Who will benefit, directly and indirectly, from the project?) |
This project is targeted at direct 2,500 families and indirect 10,000 households to benefits from the project in 04 targeted provinces (Kampong Cham, Tbong Khmumុំ , Kratie and Steung Treng provinces, located alongside the Mekong River). All target households and communities will be involved in the program activities. Vulnerable groups, women and children, people with disabilities, widows and single mothers, and the elderly are regarding as prioritized criteria. The program also targets at secondary and primary schools with approximately 5,500 students and 120 school teachers. |

The project provides significant assistances to reduce poverty, and promote livelihood and social welfare for the local people via real-skill provisions and job creations. The project will act to contribute to prevent the environment and improve quality of life and life with dignity of targeted and surrounding communities. It also assists to eliminate open defecation, promote WASH, prevent polluting activities, and reduce dramatically pollutants flowing into the River which is advantaged by many households along the Mekong River. |
