The overall goal of the proposed project is
-Strengthen forestland tenure security of the three community forests
-Contribute forest ecosystem service in the community forest through afforestation, reforestation and silviculture practice
-Improve local livelihood through establishment of bamboo production, linking to bamboo enterprise and to promote community-based ecotourism |
14. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: (Provide a description of the project and all its components.) |
“Promoting community-based sustainable bamboo production contributing to enhancing livelihood and forest ecosystem services in 3 community forests in Preah Vihear Province, Cambodia” project is implemented by Forestry Administration. The project focuses on securing land tenure security of the propose communities in the project site, to improve local community livelihood through bamboo enterprise and ecotourism. |
15. PROJECT JUSTIFICATION: (Give reasons why this particular project is considered worthwhile.) |
The project will invest in business plan implementation of the bamboo enterprise and community-eco-tourism as well as scale up the plantation of bamboo. Feedbacks from these project demonstration activities will be utilized and adjusted business model to ensure project sustainability. The project will collaborate and work closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure a success of the project implementation. The successful story of this project will be promoted through information exchange and key relevant media outlets to attract local and international investors as well as visitors to the project sites. |

This project will benefit the Forestry Administration officials, the people in the target villages, as well as stakeholders in the forestry sector. |

This project will not have an impact to the people and surrounding environment. The project will contribute to protection of forest resources through patrolling of both local CF and FA and conduct forest restoration and afforestation, while livelihoods of local communities and local community people will be increased through the supported by the project. |
