(1) Perfect the transportation network of Phnom Penh Capital;
(2) Promote the economic development along the route; Promote Cambodia economic integration and driving the economic development;
(3) Improve the National Road Network in north Cambodia. |

This newly built project is totally 1.65km long, including 845m Chak Angrae Kraom - Praek Pra Bridge Over Tonle Bassac River and 805m connecting road.
1) Chak angrae Kraom - Praek Pra Bridge Over Tonle Bassac River
The Chak Angrae Kraom - Praek Pra Bridge Over Tonle Bassac River is 845m in length (including abutment) and 27m in width.
2) Connecting Road
The Connecting Road is 805m in length and 50m in width (including the Main Road (Bridge approach road) is 27m in width and the auxiliary Road is 2x11.5m in width). |
15. PROJECT JUSTIFICATION: (Give reasons why this particular project is considered worthwhile.) |
Phnom Penh is the capital city of Cambodia and also the most prosperous city in Cambodia, with a population of around 2 million. It's the political, economic, cultural, religious and transportation center of Cambodia, and also one the most important transportation hubs in the Southeast Asia. With the fast development of economy, Phnom Penh is accelerating its urbanization process and expanding its urban size.
Linking important roads like Hun Sen Blvd. this project (The construction of Tonle Bassac Bridge (Chak Angrae Kraom - Praek Pra) Project and its connecting road) will strengthen the social-economic connection between southern Phnom Penh city, New Phnom Penh International Airport (NPPIA) and Ta Khau city (close to NPPIA), greatly perfect the transportation network of Phnom Penh Capital metropolitan area, obvious relieve the traffic congestion between both banks of Tonle Bassac River.
(2) Promote the integrated social and economic development of Cambodia
Infrastructure construction is the preconditions of Urban Development. The construction of the project will strengthen the communication between both banks of the Tonle Bassac River, greatly improve the regional traffic conditions in the southern part of Phnom Penh City, improve the efficiency of logistics and passenger flow, accelerate the high quality regional development and urbanization process. |

The people who live in this region. the national road network of Cambodia and urban infrastructure of project region. |

A certain quantity of house demolishing and acquisition shall be conducted during constriction. However, the completion of this project will exert positive influence on land utilization of this region, giving a strong support to the development of this region.
Corresponding measures against adverse environmental impact factors will be taken during the design period, construction period and operation period, so as to eliminate, retard or reduce the adverse impacts on environment and to achieve the purpose of environmental protection. |
