Protecting forests, preventing deforestation, logging, illegal wildlife encroachment in Prey Lang Wildlife Sanctuary, to the implementation of the Joint-Carbon Mechanism (JCM). |
14. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: (Provide a description of the project and all its components.) |
The Prey Lang Wildlife Sanctuary located in Stueng Treng, Preah Vihear, Kampong Thom and Kratie provinces covers an area of 431,683 hectares in compliance with Sub-Decree No. 74, dated on May 09, 2016. The Royal Government revised the Prey Lang Wildlife Sanctuary through Sub-Decree No. 181 dated July 17, 2023, increasing the total area to 489,663 hectares.Wildlife sanctuaries are rich in natural resources and rich biodiversity, the slope of the rainfall for Stueng Sen and into the Tonle Sap and Lower Mekong River. In 2018, the Conservation International has provided technical assistance and budget (Private company Japan MISUIT) to the General Department of
Administration for Nature Conservation and Protection of the Ministry of Environment to protect the area of Prey Lang forest in the Stueng Treng site for phase1. And in 2021-2027 the Conservation International still continuous provided technical assistance and budget (Private company Japan MISUIT) to protect the area of Prey Lang forest in the Stueng Treng, Preah Vihear, Kampong Thom, and Kratie province for phase2. |

Is a forest conservation project that protects and conserves all types of forest and wildlife in the project area and contributes to reducing climate change and carbon credit sales. |

Local communities have been living around / in Prey Lang area, Stueng Treng, Preah Vihear, Kampong Thom, and Kratie province. |
