The project works toward reducing poverty and enhancing food security in Cambodia The project aims to provide climate-resilient access to markets, farms, jobs, school and social services in rural remote and isolated agricultural area by replacing existing poor dirt roads which is vulnerable to floods with climate-resilient DBST or concrete pavement improvements. The project improvements are expected to help reduce poverty and enhance gender equality of vulnerable women in the remote project areas.

13. PROJECT OBJECTIVE: (Describe the major purpose of the project.)
The objective of the project is improved access to markets, jobs and social services, a safer, climate resilient and cost effective rural road network that provide all year access in the agricultural areas of the targeted project
14. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: (Provide a description of the project and all its components.)
The proposed project will continue to support sustainability of this rural road network through 1. Rural Roads Improved, 2.awareness of road safety and potential social problems strengthened
15. PROJECT JUSTIFICATION: (Give reasons why this particular project is considered worthwhile.)
The project will rehabilitate about 300 Km of rural roads in six (Kampong Cham, Prey Veng,Svay Rieng, Kampot,Kampong Speu and Pursat) targeted provinces to paved condition. The rehabilitated roads will provide poor rural provinces with a safer, cost effective rural road network with all year access to markets and other social services. The project will also support a sustainable road maintenance regime in the Ministry of Rural Development, a community based road safety program and climate change adaptation measures
