This project will ensure the research at Koh Kae station of Cambodian Agricultural Research and Development Institute which contribute to support and strength the horticultural research to gain more efficiency, improved productivity diversify and extension for major fruits and upland field crops, and development of appropriate quality assurance systems (including post-harvest).

13. PROJECT OBJECTIVE: (Describe the major purpose of the project.)
This project has framed its overall aim to develop and improve the horticultural research for major fruits and upland field crops through focusing on research base and applied biotech to improve (i) use of inputs, (ii) production efficiency and (iii) post-harvest storage and quality for the Cambodian fruit and field crops industry to develop and successfully compete with import.

The project is divided into three components focusing on : -Infrastructure and facilities development and improvement -Technology development -Institutional development

This project will help in responding to government policies in regard to transforming agriculture into a driving force for economic growth, poverty reduction and employment generation through commercialization and agroindustry development.
16. BENEFITS (Who will benefit, directly and indirectly, from the project?)
The most direct benefits will be provided to the farmers. This project will also benefit to scientists, provincial agronomist, and extension workers involved in the project through training and joint research activities.

The activity of the project will contribute to the prevention of soil erosion and maintenance in environmentally sensitive area. Development of horticultural technologies will minimize adverse social and environmental impact by directing the development of new cropping systems to most suited areas where increase in food security and household income are greatest.

21. GENDER ANALYSIS: (How does the project affect the roles of the men and women in the project area? Will women be actively involved in the implementation of the project?)
These activities will enlist 30 percent female to implement in the project, including officer and worker of Cambodian Agricultural Research and Development Institute . The innate mature of women often makes them a good source for information dissemination to their husband and to other rural women. The rural women will be greater involved in this project at all stages of crop production :pre-harvest, post harvest and selling.

Cambodian Agricultural Research and Development Institute has experienced to improved the infrastructure research at Phnom Penh that focus on many research program such as Plant Breeding, Plant protection, Soil and Water science, Agricultural Engineering, Socio-Economic science, Agronomy and Farming Systems.
