Aim the project to save the temple in Angkor park from any danger with risk mapping research and documentary for the next generation to join the prevention, conservation and enhancement the heritage for the touristic development. |
14. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: (Provide a description of the project and all its components.) |
The 10 temples in the Angkor Park within the 18 different sites are getting the high risk with many lost stones, structural depression, and stone degradation. The main cause of damage to the temple structure occurred in the long-term age of materials, civil war, lack of intervention, and natural factors. For saving temple structure from damage, the conservation team consideration had an emergency planned intervention on the 18 sites high risk in order to delay life of structural from damage, and well undertaken on cultural heritage in the future:

1- Renovation of library and central tower of Samre Temple
2- Renovation and reinforcement at Pre-Rub Temple (East-South Gate, Tower No. 3, 4, 8, 12, 13)
3- Renovation of the top of south tower At Bat Chhum Temple, size (6th Joint)
4- Repairing and strengthening 7 pillars, 1 stone pillar, Banteay Srei Temple
5- Renovation of southeast library, south of Bakong Temple (1st Joint)
6- Repairing of 2 elephants, 4 lions at Bakong Temple
7- Renovation of West Bank, 20m northwest of Angkor Wat Temple (5th Joint)
8- Renovation of Brick Tower No. 4 at Bakong Temple
9- Renovation of pond 40 meters north of Angkor Wat Temple (5th Joint)
10- Renovation of brick tower at Kok Por Temple (1st Joint)
11- Renovation of South Klaing Temple (1st Joint)
12- Renovation of the central tower and floor at Prey Munty Temple (1st Joint)
13- Renovation of the corner at North- East Gate of Angkor Thom
1-Restoration Activities
- Research and documentation of temple conservation history to be the main references during implementation
- Art objects inventory.
- Drawing and measuring before implementation.
- Archaeological survey and excavation.
- Analyzing foundation soil before operation.
- Build up working site and stone storage.
- Studying and searching the lost stones.
- Conducting stone conservation treatment.
- Matching stones to evaluate the possibility for reassembling.
- Approving new materials such as new sandstone, laterite stones, sand, and other equipment support for the restoration.
- Finishing work: Site clearance, completed report, documentation, and open sites to the visitors.
2- Emergency Shoring
- Risk mapping on the temple structure.
- Processing intervention plans to avoid any accident eventually.
- Approving new materials such as woods, metals, iron, for the emergency shoring.
- Finishing work: Site clearance, completed report, documentation, and open sites to the visitors.
3- Archaeological Research and Excavation
- Study and risk mapping to prepare the technical plan.
- Excavating and analyzing art objects, and ancient infrastructure from the trench.
- Finalizing the technical report for publishing.
4- Collection Classification and Restoration
- Build up statistics, analysis, and repair art objects from the research and excavations.
- Inventory all scattering stones of the art objects. |

The project is aimed saving the international heritage from the danger of preserving its historical identity, artwork and attractiveness for tourism. |
