The goal of this project is to build the capacities and testing equipment and material installation for product quality and safety improvement and for supporting national trade facilitation, which is a government need for implementing the trade development strategy.

13. PROJECT OBJECTIVE: (Describe the major purpose of the project.)
The objective of this project is to improve the quality and safety of products, especially for Industry and SME products by expanding the laboratory capacity, testing or analyzing through the use of modern equipment and testing methods, which supports the national trade and this project, is essential for operationalizing the developing strategy of trade and Public health benefits.
14. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: (Provide a description of the project and all its components.)
The new building of Science, Technology and Innovation National Laboratory (STINL) of National Institute of Science, Technology and Innovation (NISTI) at the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI), has been constructed completely. Since the STINL needs to expand the scopes of laboratory testing for industry, regulatory support and standard development, then STINL need to build the capacity testing, experimentation and modern equipment installation to complement the existing equipment. The content of the project as following: - New and modern equipment and material, according to the needs of each competence laboratory (Microbiology Testing Laboratory, Water Chemical Laboratory, Food Chemical Laboratory, Non-Food Chemical Laboratory and Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic Laboratory). -Capacity building, according to the needs of each competence laboratory).
15. PROJECT JUSTIFICATION: (Give reasons why this particular project is considered worthwhile.)
- To develop the capacity and expand the scope of testing on the new parameters; - To contribute in improving the quality and safety of products, especially industrial and handicraft products; - To Support the national trade, which is essential for operationalizing for developing strategy of trade and Public health benefits.
16. BENEFITS (Who will benefit, directly and indirectly, from the project?)
Companies/factories, industries, and handicrafts can improve the quality, and safety of products, enhance their technology and production processes through the use of testing services provided by the Science, Technology and Innovation National Laboratory, and obtain the customer’s confidence.

This project does not affect the role of men and women in the project implementation. The staffs of STINL, both women and men with the same capabilities have the same obligation to collaborate actively in the same project together.

After finishing the new STINL construction, the testing capacity of STINL of NISTI will be built and modern equipment will be supplemented more than existing equipment, therefore STINL of NISTI will have more professional and experienced staff to implement this project.
