-To upgrade water management infrastructure in the Dammak Cheeukrom scheme.
-To enhance Capacity for Community based in disaster risk management

14. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: (Provide a description of the project and all its components.) |
-Frequent flood and drought in the Lower River basin causes increasing loss of live and economic cost each year. Accurate and timely available of hydro-meteorology data and information help local national authorities and communities to take precautionary measure and to reduce risk and plan for recovery.
-The Stung Pursat river catchment under the shadow effect of the Cardamom Mountain range is regularly experienced severe drought during the early wet season and severe flood the northeast monsoon. |
15. PROJECT JUSTIFICATION: (Give reasons why this particular project is considered worthwhile.) |
At the Stung Pursat level, this project will provide access of irrigation water to subsistence farmer in the project areas to secure their crop production from risk of drought and flooding. Would help to alleviate poverty in the area, provide better access to the market and business. |
